Fetish too far?

As a long term lover of fashion illustrations, I get absorbed into looking at unusual design patterns and figures. It’s a guilty habit, but I love buying thick books subjected to fashion illustrations. Historical illustrations; editorial illustrations; beauty illustrations; as long as they are fashion/beauty related, I'll buy it.
However, this year I've stumbled upon a remorseful purchase. One of which, my family and friends have to suffer my fashion illustration fetish too.

Birthday cards.

Not just any birthday cards however; the Art Deco card range from Clintons. It has turned my birthday card world upside down. From purchasing cheap humorous cards with the intent to offend family and friends, to now spending up to £4.99 on an Art Deco birthday card, guiltlessly because I am fixated with them.

Below are a few of the Art Deco's range from their collection, let me know what you think.

Thankyou Bil Donovon for your inspiration

Same Project as the last two blogs.. Bil Donovon as my influence

These took alot of development but here is the outcome. I used photographs from a shoot I did with Chelsey (a few edits from that shoot below)

.. and some photos from my nature shoot, which I will upload another time as my blog seems to be swaying towards photography. But yes, these are two of my final designs for his work. Alot of photographs, tracings, illustration inks, scanning, more photographs then work on my beloved photoshop went into my pieces. Still uncertain whether or not it was all worth it...

Typography

Might as well get the ball rolling a post another 'post'.. even though ironically this post is about typography and the irony being that it's what I should be doing right now but I just wanted to share a little something I made the other day for my 're-vamping of VOGUE'

I love it! I spent £3.86 on black and navy feathers to create this. It took a lot of time, effort, glitter glue (the closest to PVA glue I could find) and feather trimmings but it all paid off. The original version isn't as tidy as this and neither was my mum's cream bedroom carpet after I had finished. But thanks to the invention of scanning and photoshop I managed to tidy it up.

My first ever blog post

Here it goes... I thought the best way to start my blog, or what i figured a lot of the other bloggers would blog to their blogs would be to blog my work to my blog for all the bloggers to see.

(Above) Here is a piece I collaged together for my Graphics project (re-vamping VOGUE). I decided for this project I would go 'back to basics' and create fashion/beauty illustrations using a whole variety of mixed media and different techniques inspired by my chosen contextual's. The piece about was inspired by 'Gabi Trinkaus'. I took a few snaps of my friend 'Beki' in a photoshoot and used some of her photos and some cuttings from magazines and newspapers to create this piece. So thank you to Beki and to the magazines that were conveniently lying around the house. And also thanks to photoshop for helping me tidy up my image and for helping me create the swirls.

Here are my other two collages (above)
